This is a indenpendent review of the HU Bootstrap sent to me by http://www.dsstoybox.com/ to review.
I put together this simple easy website so as not to offend any of the webmaster's of our fourm's. Also this is my first time trying to publish using my First Digital camara so dont laugh im trying if i can get used to it ill upload better pictures. Ok now for some background if any of you dont know me (which is good in this hobby LOL) My Nick is Shadow aka TobaShadow long time member of Dsstester.com (had to plug yha Milez) and Op over at our irc server, and member of over 100 differnet new and former dss sites all the way from back in the HackHu days.
Ok now to the review
The following info is known about this product
This bootstrap works and here is what it does
- Get rid of the dreaded ext. 744/745 message
- Allow you to use any blacklisted bin
- Allow you to use 99% of all 3m files
- Allow you to use any Activation file
- Prevents Tier wiping on activation scripts
- Compatible with the P4 Card
Test's and Result's
745 -tested using 4 known blacklisted bins in a drd420re and a Hughes Gold if those ird's will accept it allmost all will
Result - PASS
3m's - tested 5 seperate 3m's all with no problems including on fuse and nonfuse
Result - PASS
Activation - Using the current Teir List all is working fine all ch's working good
Result - PASS
Teir Wipe - Using Non Stacked Tiers on a clean bin which should wipe quickly all is well 12 hours striaght hasn't droped one
Result - PASS
Compatable with P4 - all i have is a current sub P4 to test with and it didnt care that it was plugged in no error's no
problems will it hold the tiers and not 745 when desub'd as far as i can tell (im not going to desub to find out) it will as allmost all simple commands on a HU work the same on P4's just like it did on H's

Further Comments
The unit came well packaged in bubble wrap and in a seperate box from the outside package to protect it (nice touch) Good info to know is it was NOT shipped from the USA for those that wonder i did check on that first independently. 1 weird thing to notice is it doesnt match the picture on the website same color but the slot is a side facing slot and is now on top and now use's a smaller main chip to take up less room and of course put out less heat. Im more prone to the bottom forward facing slot but for people putting this inside of a entertainment center it should be better becasue it doesnt stick out as far to interfere with the glass door from closing.
All in all i like this unit and it does what it say's (unlike some things) i hope for future support to keep it updated. For those that do have good bin's like me this unit would be very very usefull in making activations last a long time if you set the dates far enough in the future so they dont expire too quickly.
UPDATE:
After allmost 24 hours with this unit ive noticed a few things all still works but it seems to also limit updates to the card including DSW which must be added before insert to ird a very plus feature maybe usefull in the future to protect the cards.
